Just for the record....

... this weekend's visitor is the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Mounts Bay. Seen here moored at the Liverpool Cruise Liner Facility. You just have to take a picture!

The Mounts Bay is a bay Class Landing Ship Dock, one of four in the Bay Class of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and was launched from Govan Shipbuilders on the Clyde in 2004. She can carry up to 356 troops and a mix of vehicles including 32 Challenger tanks or 150 light trucks, She also carries three landing craft and can support a couple of Merlin or Chinook helicopters.

A few images ago I mentioned my picture All Aboard had been short listed in the Mersey Ferry photo competition, I have just learnt that it was in the final three but did not quite make first unfortunately, Still I have the formal awards ceremony to look forward to next week and bing included in a spread in the local paper.

Congratulations on your success in competition, Les; a great achievement!

This ship was certainly not built for her looks, was she? Most odd with the overhang by the lifeboat.
Les Auld: A strange shape indeed Alan, thanks for the comments and the congratulations.

Well done on the comp les, Ship may be functional but don't you just wish for the rakish lines of the old warships
Les Auld: Thanks Zed, indeed a sleek ship of war is far more appealing but then today we have to put up with the functional.
Well done in the compteition Les, you can't win tham all as they say but still a worthy result. This is a great shot, I just imagine that great structure is a great target for a low flying Exocet or similar.
Les Auld: Certainly has a high top hamper, thanks for the comments Brian.
Well done Les! This ship looks like it was made for Blue Peter out of cereal packetsgrin
Les Auld: Probably the one they made earlier Bill, thanks for the comment.
Impressive sight !
Les Auld: Or a strange shape, thanks for the comment Zeb.
That's a magnificent ship there Les! Congratulations on getting close to a prize in the competition smile
Les Auld: Thanks Pam, appreciate the comment.
Congratulations for "All Aboard" Les, well deserved.
Les Auld: Thanks Alistair, appreciate it.
