photoblog image The View through Connections

The View through Connections

At the top of Old Hall Street in Liverpool is a piece of public art by Stephen Broadbent called Connections, part of which is a large round opening. So the natural thing to do is take a picture through that opening and this is it. A tall building down by Princes Dock against a gray cloudy sky. not relly very exciting.

Another view of Connections from the other side may be found here.

Beautifully framed Les
Les Auld: Thanks Zed, you just have to take the picture.
Stunning perspective and frame. Great capture of this fascinating architecture.
Les Auld: Thanks John, it does seem to work well as a frame.
This works well Les.
Les Auld: The only part of the artwork that does Bill, thanks for the comment.
Wonderful processing!
Les Auld: Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.
I kind of feel less than impressed with this sculpture with a hole.
I was recently re-watching a delightful video documentary about Henry Moore on which it mentioned that Barbera Hepworth was the first contemporary (20th Century) artist to use 'the hole' in a considered way.

Nice shooting angle Les. richard
Les Auld: The hole does work but the rest of the artwork is not so impressive, Thanks for the comment Richard.
Brilliant DOF Les. We have two pic's in one like this...it really works well. Nice PP to top it.
Les Auld: Thanks Ron, a touch of Topaz helped.
Looks a bit like a porthole - appropriate for Liverpool, I'd say.
Les Auld: Could be right Ian, thanks for the comment.
Great image - caught my eye straight away in the thumbnail gallery. Mike
Les Auld: Thanks Mike, it does have a bit of a presence I suppose.
Great shot Les, you couldn't ask for a more useful frame from modern art.
Les Auld: It does seem to work Brian, thanks for the comment.

Great picture and processing. The Connection is one of the better frames I have seen.
Les Auld: Thanks Louis, appreciate the comment.
Great image. The use of HDR techniques was an excellent idea. It lets you see the wall. The sky is very dramatic. The car is a pity.
Les Auld: Never noticed the car until I was back home and it was too late to go back for another try, perhaps one day. Thanks for the comment.
I like this very much Les smile
Les Auld: Glad you do Pam, thanks for the comment.
