In Wolstoneholme Square, Liverpool, stands a unique piece of artwork by the sculptor Jorge Pardo. Called Penelope after the wife of Ulysses, who like all good Greeks had gone off to fight in the Trojan War leaving his good lady behind to await his return.
Produced as part of the Liverpool 2002 Biennial, Penelope is located in the old ropeworks area and the stalks are supposed to represent the ropes that were part of this area during the age of sail.
