photoblog image The Main Bridewell

The Main Bridewell

Not all of Liverpool's Victorian buildings are grand and imposing. The Main Bridewell in Cheapside is strictly functional, a grim looking prison behind the Magistrate's Courts. Built in 1857, it is overlooked by the clock tower of the Municipal Buildings.

Your processing has added to the grimness of this prison, Les. Thank God there's a clock tower to brighten things up a bit!
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, it quite grim in reality.
