Looking back Going Superlambanana

One of the great successes of the European Capital; of Culture Year 2008 was the Go Superlambanana event. For a ten weeks in the middle of the year the streets of Liverpool were thronged with people seeking out the Superlambananas that came out of  hiding for the summer. There were over one hundred of them spread about the city and on a fine summers day you would see families with maps in their hands spotting the different little beasts, wandering the city with a look of dedication in their eys. The number of images of these things on the web is enormous, if I had a pound for evryone I have seen then I would be a multi-millionaire. I even managed to have some of my pictures published by the Liverpool Daily Post.

They also made it onto facebook with a local songwriter producing a song for Superlambananas.

In September they were auctioned off and raised £550,000 for charity and many of them have re-appeared on the streets and in the shops generating as much interest as the original event.

The three here are:

We had a similar thing in Bath with pigs but they hadn't been cross fertilised with fruit. Amazing variety of decorative ideas and well done for getting some photos published!
Les Auld: Thanks Mike, I also believe there were cows in Manchester at some time, thanks for the comment.
