Looking back....

... to last year and Liverpool's tenure as the European Capital of Culture, there were so many events large and small throughout the year. I managed to attend a few of them and one of the highlights had to be La Princessa, a 50 foot, 37 ton giant spider wandering the streets of Liverpool for four days before disappearing down the Mersey Tunnel and out of our lives.

There were thousands of people out on the streets just to see the spider pass and take photographs of it as well. It is seen here making it's way down Castle Street breathing water vapour over the crowds in front whilst Spider Riders balance on it's forelegs high above the crowd.

It's not still lurking in the Mersey Tunnel is it, Les? The two outriders look they are about to be eaten. Do you know who is this year's Capital of Culture?
Les Auld: Thanks Alan, for 2009 the cities are Linz in Austria and Vilnius in Lithuania. I believe the spider has burrowed over to Japan.

Great rememberance - I do remember your previous postings of the Princess.
Les Auld: Thanks Louis, it certainly was one of the highlights.
I remember this and it must have been an amazing sight. I WILL visit Liverpool in 2009!!
Les Auld: Truly amazing Bill, thanks for the comment.
This perspective between the buildings enchants to me!
Les Auld: I do line the skyline on this Jose, thanks for the comment.
I remember your pictures of this Les, thanks for the reminder.
Les Auld: Well worth remembering as well Brian, thanks for the comment.
Bizarre and rather wonderful image. The spidery thing has an almost architectural feeling which goes well with the background buildings.
Les Auld: He does look like he belongs there Ian, thanks for the comment.
