The Royal Liver Building
You can just imaging just how rich the Insurance Company was to have built such a grand and imposing building.
Located opposite the Tower Building
on the Strand at the Pier Head in Liverpool, it was one of the first reinforced concrete buildings in the world, and certainly the first in Britain. Built with a cast concrete frame it is clad in a grey-black granite.
It is actuially built over one of Liverpool's early docks, St. George's Dock, and is pehaps one of my favourite buildings to photograph.
