The Moores brothers

Founders of the Littlewoods empire, football pools, shops, catalogues and many others, Sir John and Cecil Moores stand forever strolling down Old Hall Street in Liverpool. Liverpool sculptor Tom Murphy was commissioned by Littlewoods to produce this artwork on the centenary of Sir John's birth.

In March 1960, Sir John handed the Pools business over to Cecil so he could become a director of Everton Football Club. Two months later he became the chairman, and finally left the Everton board of directors in April 1977.

There are a few other examples of Tom Murphy's work may be seen here here, here and here.

I like these Les, there is an affectionate humour to them
Les Auld: They do seem rather happy together Bill, perhaps it is the thought of all their millions. Thanks for the comment.

They look very contented chaps.
Les Auld: Geat benefactors for the city Ellie, I suppose it did make them content with their lot. Thanks for the comment.
Great!

I love it that you used a wide angle.
Les Auld: I had to kneel in front of them to get the angle though, thanks for the comment.
