New Build ot the Pier Head

For the past couple of years the Pier Head in Liverpool has been one big construction site with new buildings and a new canal under way. Gradually the work is being completed and we are treated to a gradual opening of the area, so many new photographic opportunities are starting to show themselves.

The Three Graces are now fronted by a new canal connecting the Leeds and Liverpool canal at Stanley Dock to the Albert Dock complex. The south side is now complete and the north side should be opened in the near future. Canal boats are expected to to be sailing past this iconic waterfront sometime next year instead of the rather more perilous journey out onto the River Mesery and then back into the docks via Canning Half Tide Dock at times of high tide.

This is a fine twilight scene - the lights in the windows reflected in the water are beautiful, as is the stormy looking sky. Looks like an interesting area to explore.

Les Auld: The buildings are set off quite well by the new canal, thanks for the comment.
I like this one Les, great lighting, detail in the buidlings and reflections in the canal.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, the first time I have used a tripod since January.
Wonderful perspective shot with these reflections. I like the lighting and the colours!
Les Auld: Glad you like it Richard, thanks for the comment.
That is really cool Les. I had not realised they had progressed so well. Very spectacular.
Les Auld: And should get better as they open it up more later in the year, thanks for the comment Alistair.
