New Build on the Prom

When I was a lad this area on the Marine Lake had a bandstand and hundreds of people used to sit in their deck chairs and enjoy the music. Over the years the crowds faded and the bands moved on, neglect set in and it was closed off. A couple of years ago building started on a new hotel and public area complex. The hotel, operated by Ramada, has now opened and the other areas will open in the near future. Part of the deal was  to provide for improvements to the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre next door so there are improvements along the lakeside. Whether the crowds will return only time will tell but it is an improvemnt to what was there before.

this is a very nice shot of it and nicely processed. The building on the left as I look at the shot reminds me of a hotel on the prom in Auckland that I believe is a Hilton. Interesting.
Les Auld: Glad you like it Dawn, thanks for the comment.
Nice shot Les, I like the sky. Not too bad for modern architecture is it.
Les Auld: Not too bad Brian, thanks for the comment.

Well captured Les,must agree with Brian. Almost 1930 ish, somewhat reminds me of the DE LA WARR pavilion at BEXHILL-ON-SEA style of architecture. Like the strong sky and the use of the light. Thanks for the Black 5 posting also,it was well suited to your B&W treatment very atmospheric.
Les Auld: It does have a touch of retro about it Graham, glad you liked the black 5 as well. Thanks for the comment.
