Harrier 40A, Another view

Decided to try a bit of toning on this one, used the gradient map in CS3 to convert to Black and White and then added a blue/grey colour as a mid-point on the gradient, then rduced the opacity of the layer to about 80%.

A few more Harrier pictures can be found on my Flickr site.

The pp works really well and I love the halo of lighter sky around the silhouette of the plane. I took it for mono until I saw the red diamonds on the tanks. I like those little touches of colour.
Les Auld: Used a graduated filter layer and then reduced the opacity a bit Ian, Thanks for the comment.

Seems like a lot of work in PP but effect is worth it, great tones and interesting point of view.
Les Auld: Not too much work Monika, about 15 minutes in all, thanks for the comment.
Really seems to enhance the feeling of military hardware.
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, adds a touch of drama perhaps?
Another strong image Les showing the power of these planes and good processing too.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, playing about with gradient maps and found this.

It was certainly well worth the effort.
Les Auld: Pleased that you think so Ellie, thanks for the comment.
A striking image, Les - you've got some great stuff in your archive of photographs. Mike
Les Auld: Thanks Mike, glad you liked them.
