The Leaving of Liverpool

HMS Illustrios was in port this weekend for a courtesy visit, just as for the Ark Royal earlier in the year many thousands turned out to see her. She is seen here leaving midday Sunday, the rain was threatening but held off a bit longer.

I like it, that building looks like it's been used as target practise
Les Auld: The Ticket Collector's Kiosk has been there for a while vintage, indeed I have posted a few pictures of it. Thanks for the comment.

I like the tone you've set here, makes it quite a powerful picture

I like your choice of foreground Les, I'm sure we have seen it before.
Les Auld: Indeed you have Bill, a few times I think. Thanks for the comment.

The wind must have been quite strong - the flag is waving the same direction that the ship is going.

One of the things I can just wonder about - two signs about a dangerous structure that took longer to produce and erect than it would take to pull the structure down.
Les Auld: The structure is made of re-inforced concrete with it's foundations deep in the river Louis, it would take a lot of effort to pull it down although I'm sure it will disappear if the plans to build along here come about. Thanks for the comment.
The overall greyness of the sky gives this the feeling of a bleak day down by the river les. What a ramshackle old building in the foreground.
Les Auld: The old ticket collector's kiosk Brian, and it was a grey windy day. Thanks for the comment.
