Afternoon on the River

Friday October 3rd saw the Cunard Liner Queen Elisabeth 2 on the River Mersey for the last time before she is paid off and sent to Dubai to be turned into a floating hotel. The Norfolk  Lines Irish ferry is loading lorries at the Twelve Quays terminal on the left whilst the Mersey Ferries were out in force with QE2 sightseeing trips.

Great depth in the photo Les great clouds
Les Auld: Thanks Vintage, about a mile I think.
Great shot Les, the colours are really bright and clean, if you know what I mean.
Les Auld: Bright afternoon sun helped along with a little PS work, thanks for the comment Brian.

Vintage has the measure of the picture. The part about the ferries cruising the QE2 is most interesting. It indiactes how modern people can be old fashioned in life's approach, all at the same time.
Les Auld: Thanks Louis, thousands of people came down tot he river over the day to see the QE2, shows how many like this sort of thing, I know I do.
A wonderful picture Les, there is so much going on and yet it is not overcrowded. It gives a nice commentary of the port life in Liverpool.
Les Auld: Still a working river Sheila, thanks for the comment.

Brilliant picture that makes Liverpool appear to be a bustling port. I like the way that QE2 is almost incidental to the shot, but without her it'd be less striking.

Another one for the portfolio wink
Les Auld: I was aiming to make it look an everyday scene Ellie, still a working river as well. Thanks for the comment.
