Following yesterday's post about the end of a fine ship, today illustrates another end to a distinguished vessel. HMS Intrepid arrived in Liverpool on the 17th September, 2008, to be dismantled for scrap. Seen here in Canada Graving Dock, the amphibious landing ship, a Falkland's war veteran appears to be in remarkably good condition considering that she paid off in 1991 and has been laid up in Portsmouth ever since.
It is estimated that 95% of the ship can be recycled and it will take about five months to complete, problems not withstanding.
