The Irish Sail Training Brigantine Asgard II seen on the River Mersey a couple of years ago. Sadly this fine ship was sunk in the Bay of Biscay on the 10th September, fortunately all the crew were rescued.

Sad news about the boat; it looks a little small to me to consider crossing the bay of Biscay; not known for its "mill pond" conditions, is it? Thsi is a fine capture, though.

Great photo, but I am a sucker for sailing boats impressive looking ship shame that has not got it's square sails up.Are they going to replace it?

What a shame as she was a lovely vessel. At least the crew were saved!

A bit overexposed water makes it looks like the boat is frozen into ice. smile
Les Auld: The problem with the Mersey you have to shoot into the sun from the Liverpool side so you tend to get silver water, thanks for the comment.
Nice ship, nice picture and sad story Les. At least the crew were rescued.
