photoblog image The Train Shed

The Train Shed

Liverpool's Lime Street Station on a busy day with Virgin Trains runing to time as usual.

This part of the train shed was added in 1884 to the third of the stations that graced this site, doubling the size of the station. The span is 200 feet and the open aspect will, I belieev, soon be lost as new buildings are to be placed along the road area in the next couple of years.

HDR teatment, Topaz Adjust and Diffuse glow have all provided a lift to the original which was rather dark.

Wow great big place well captured
Les Auld: Thanks Vintage, once it was full of life with steam engines and crowds but it seems quieter these days.

impressive piece of architecture (not to mention the photo...)
Les Auld: Thanks Paolo, appreciate the comment.
Good shot Les, it's years since I passed through here to and from the IOM.. The roof and curve are a bit like York station in miniature.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, it will probably look quite different the next time you pass through.

Canon 360D? Some new camera over in the UK?

Picture excellent in colours and composition. Picked the line of roof and trusses up very well.
Les Auld: Typing error Louis, there is a nice line to the roof.
Very nice view! The HDR treatment is a good thing.
Les Auld: I tried to make the HDR subtle Paul, glad you like it.

Missed this when first published. I like the sweep of the roof and the curved lines. Nice view of the Virgin train ...umm.. somewhere!
Les Auld: Just approaching the platform end Alan, thanks for the comment.
