photoblog image The Waverly

The Waverly

Looking throught the archives I came across some images that broyught back memories so I thought I would post a few of them.

We were in Oban for a holiday some years ago and one evening I went down to the front to take a few pictures and the old Paddlewheeler, the Waverly, sailed around the islands and into the harbour just as the sun was setting. The thing I remember most though is the sound. Well before I could see the ship I could hear a deep thump echoing around the hills and getting louder as it approached the harbour.

I remember going on a school trip on the Waverly about 25 years ago, from Southend pier. I didn't realise it was still going!
Les Auld: Still traveling the Isles Mark, thanks for the comment.
Nice Oban sunset Les, I remember that from when I was there a long time ago. The Waverley is one ship I have never seen, I believe it is still going though.
Les Auld: It is indeed Brian, and Oban sunsets are pretty good, thanks for the comment.
