photoblog image Parade of Sail

Parade of Sail

Over 70 Tall, and some not so tall, ships from all parts of the globe took part in the Parade of Sail along the River Mersey and out into Liverpool bay on Monday. Unfortunately the wind speed and direction meant that the majority of the ships could not depoly their sails and had to use their engines to move out.

These two are the Eendracht from Hollad and the Cuauhtemoc from Mexico sailing past Wallesey town hall.

I was on the Mersey Ferry Royal Iris, anchored on the liverpool side of the river, unfortunately theis meant I was shooting into the sun so it was quite difficult to get a good shot.

Great capture of a great event
Les Auld: Thanks Vintage, it does have to be one of the great events of the year.
You've done alright here Les, with the son coming through the sails and the flags lit up.
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, i knew being on the wrong side of the river would not be too bad.
