The time of year...
... when the gardeners are out tidying up Southport, the hanging baskets are all along Lord Street and the traffic islands all have new floral displays on them. Yes it is time for the judging of the Britain in Bloom competition. Towns and villages the length of the country are waiting with baited breath as the judges traverse this island and award the prizes for this year.
The competition is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and started in 1963, in all those years Southport has won it once.
