The working river

Even with such an event as the finish of the Round the World Clipper Race the workings on the river must continue.

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary Gold Rover is helped into Alfred Dock, Birkenhead, by the tug Smit Liverpool whilst the crew of the Nova Scotia take a rest before entering the Canning Half Tide Dock in Liverpool.

In the background can be seen the RFA Fort George, in the old Cammel Lairds ship yard being refitted as part of a multi-million pound contract.

Great series Les.looks like a busy river.
Les Auld: It has it's moments Vintage, thanks for the comment.
Another contrast between the sizes of different sorts of vessel Les and a good composition across the frame. It looks as though this boat trip of yours paid off quite well for photos.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, three is the magic number according to many judges.

I love the composition, the crane above the boats works wonderfully.

Also, the perspective with the sailing boat against the bigger vessels is superb.
Les Auld: Thanks FLOOG, appreciate the comment.

I like the combination of the leisure boats and the working ships here. Les. I like all the detail on the RFA ship especially.
Les Auld: The one in the background is the Fort George, being repaired in Cammell Lairds, thanks for the comment Alan.

Golden rover - looks very grey to me smile You are right that the work goes on - the picture has an industrial type feel with the cranes and masts.
Les Auld: Part of the industrial river bank Louis, thanks for the comment.
