The Navy's in town

This weekend saw a courtesy visit to Liverpool by the Royal Navy's flagship, HMS Ark Royal. Moored at the new Cruise Liner Facility she was open to the public on Saturday. We arrived at ten o'clock and queued until just before twelve so great were the crowds wanting to tour the vessel. There must have been thousands of people down at the riverside. It was cold and windy whilst we were queueing but when we left the ship the sun was out and it was a glorious afternoon.

The fence in the foreground is the remains of the old Princes Landing Stage and the two ships in the background are the Irish boats loading a the Twelve Quays terminal in Birkenhead.

I bet it was worth the wait.
Les Auld: It was a touch disappointing Bill as we only had access to the hanger deck. Thanks for the comment.
Good shot Les and I'll bet it was really interesting on the ship. Might we see a shot or two?
Les Auld: There are a couple to follow Brian, thanks for the comment.

I think this would be good in B&W too, especially if the contrast in the sky was boosted. Nice shot!
Les Auld: Could be right Paul, thanks for the comment.
