photoblog image The View from the Royal Iris

The View from the Royal Iris

The view looking back as the Royal Iris draws away from the Cruise Liner Facility. The warship in the foreground is the French minesweeper FS Andromede, visiting for a day or so.

This is just a small part of the panorama posted by Digiphotology yesterday with theThree Graces to the right and a new office block, I think it may be the Criminal Records Bureau but we are not supposed to know that, I could be wrong.

The church spire behind it is Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is the parish church of Liverpool and is also known as the Sailor's Church.

The two small red topped boats at the landing stage are the Liverpool Pilot's boats.

You do have a special flare for these architectural shots, Les. And look at that orange crane! AND the clock tower. Gotta love it! smile
Les Auld: It is difficult to take a picture of Liverpool without a crane in it at the moment, thanks for the comment, and the compliment as well.

Beautiful buildings in contrast with the "modern" boat ... Well spotted ...
Les Auld: A city of contrasts Ann, thanks for the comment.
étonnant paysage, j'aime bien.
Les Auld: Merci pour le commentaire Marietom.
Thanks for the mention Les, much appreciated. Criminal Records Bureau eh, as a Scouser I think I am aloud to say how appropriate!
Les Auld: My pleasure Alistair, thanks for the comment.
Almost a panorama in one shot Les, ceratinly has changed a bit since my last visit in 1975.
Les Auld: It should be changed even more in a years time when most of the work should be finished, thanks for the comment Brian.

It still looks proud, even though there aren't enough boats there now.
Les Auld: Know what you mean Ellie, could do with a few more around. Thanks for the comment.
