A Trip on the Ferry

Last Saturday dawned fine in the North West so, I thouhgt, a trip on the River Mersey would be a fine outing for the day with some photo opportuniies. So of I went to Liverpool, arriving at the Pier Head as the sky started to go grey and it cooled a touch, but, being a hardy sailor I bought my ticket and then had to spenf another fifteen minutes walking to the Cruise Liner Facility where the ferries were temporarily sailing from whist the building site that is the Pier Head grows more and more inaccessible.

The Royal Iris of the Mersey approaching the CLF ready to pick me up, along with a hundred or so others, for the round trip, the signature tune Ferry 'Cross the Mersey playing to the accompanyment of the diesel engines.

What a beauty of a ferry, Les, and a grand name for one! Look at those lone seagulls who are quite hopeful some passenger will have a tiny morsel for them. Those birds are not dumb!

I have to laugh because this ferry reminds me of my Canon red-ring lenses. smile
Les Auld: I think they are great little boats Ginnie, glad you like it as well. See what you mean about the lenses, Thanks for the comment.

First thing I thought of was the tune - and yes they played it smile Great picture.

If you were on the top deck you may have been able to take great pictures of the parallel flying gulls - hope you did.
Les Auld: Stayed on the lower deck Louis as I like the angle of view from there, thanks for the comment.
I just love these chunky tug/ ferry boats battling brutily and bosterously through bashing battlements of briny water.

Les Auld: Bravely broaching the bounding seas Richard, thanks for the comment.
Nice shot Les, I hope you enjoyed the ride. It was 1975 the last time I went through the Pier head on an Isle of Man trip to the Manx Grand Prix, guess it's changed quite a bit by now.
Les Auld: Constantly changing Brian, thanks for the comment.
That's one Gerry and the Pacemakers record I didn't buytongue
Les Auld: But my wife did Bill, thanks for the comment.
