photoblog image The Baltic Fleet

The Baltic Fleet

Driving along Wapping in Liverpool, the traffic was stationary because of the building works down towards the Albert Dock, My camera was on the seat besides me so I took the opportunity to take a photograph of the Baltic Fleet. It is a mid ninteenth century ale house, now a Grade II listed building, it's strange wedge shape is vaguely reminiscient of a tugboat, emphasised perhaps by the chimneys in the form of ships funnels. Somewhat isolated at the moment as it it is surrounded by old warehouses and building sites. It is reputed to serve a good pint and cook a fine meal. The Black Pudding is particularly recommended.

Nice shot Les, and good treatment as well. I'd go back and try the food someday if I was you.
Les Auld: One day Brian, thanks for the comment.

I must say that using those background filters works amazing wonders, Les. You can really be proud of this! This is a Likey for me.
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, I do enjoy using the textures to present images a little differently.

Really pleased to hear that the building is to be saved. You editing looks bvery much in keeping with the aged feel.
Les Auld: Thanks Alan, I have often passed by the Baltic Fleet and wondered about it, one day I'll go in and sample the wares.
Black pudding noted! Nice shot Les and the treatment suits it well
Les Auld: I do enjoy a good Black Pudding Bill, although I prefer the Scottish variety to the Lancashire one, not as much fat in it. Thanks for the comment.
I was with you all the way until Black pudding hove into view, you've really nailed this type of pp down well.
Les Auld: Can't beat a good bitof Black Pudding David, thanks for the comment.
I had lunch here yesterday (Tuesday)I can recommend the Lob Scouse and the Summer Ale, one of a selection of cracking beers brewed on the premises. The interior has to be seen to be believed 60's hardboard design meets Victoriana! You have caught the old dear well. The moral of the story, always keep the camera handy.
Les Auld: Thanks Alistair, pleased that you enjoyed your visit.

Excellent picture. The building does seem a bit isolated, the colours does fit great with the background.
Les Auld: Surrounded by building sites Louis, thanks for the comment.
