LOL.. Mon Dieu, what a motley collection they are! I like the muted colours in this and the way the smake from the cannon has masked out out most of the background. I trust the Brits won this battle!
Les Auld: Thanks Alan, actually it was a draw if I remember correctly.

Are the specs an anachronism, or did the Imperial Guard go to Vision Express?

It all looks like great fun, as long as you don't take any grape shot in the eye.
Les Auld: It is a recorded fact that spectacles were about during the Napoleonic Wars, even if they were in their infancy, whether you would see them on a battlefield would be open to conjecture I suppose. Thanks for the comment Ian.

Brilliant photo, I love re-enactments, infect there is a medieval week-end in the ruins of a chateau near to us , but we cannot go. cÂ’est la vie
Les Auld: Thanks Sam, appreciate the comment.

How ironic, here I am watching Sharpe and various French officers doing their best to kill the British.

Must find out if there's anything like this near us this coming year, it's my type of thing. smile

Oooh, I like the picture too.
Les Auld: I have scoured the web for this years re-enactment events and yet have not found anything that I could travel to easily, hopefully some more will be listed for later in the year.

The Sharpe books are great to read but I found the TV series a bit disappointing as it lacked the scale and the grandeur posed in the books. Thanks for the comment.
Great candid of these guys Les, bet you could sell them a few copies.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, haven't got them lining up to make me rich just yet.

Would make a great Specsavers advert smile
Les Auld: Good idea, I'll get onto them, now where did I put my glasses. Thanks Dave.
