High on top of the dome of Liverpool's town hall sits Britannia gazing down Castle Street. There always has been great debate whether the figure is actually Minerva rather than Britannia but it has never been resolved. Guarding the town hallclock are the lion and the unicorn.
The statue was sculptured by John Charles Felix Rossi and the cost in 1802 was about £460.
