photoblog image Shankley at the Kop End

Shankley at the Kop End

Seeing that I uploaded a photo of Everton Football Club yesterday I felt I had to redress the balance and provide one of Liverpool FC today.

Bill Shankley is arguably the greatest manager Liverpool ever had, December 1st 1959 is a date that will forever be etched in the annals of Anfield history. For it was on this day that Liverpool Football Club announced Huddersfield Town boss Bill Shankly would be their new manager in succession to Phil Taylor. He remained manager until 1974. As a tribute to him he was immortalised in bronze at the Kop End of Anfield in charactaristic pose of celebration at the success of his beloved team.

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Excellent processing - the idea of 'Larger than life' comes to mind.
Les Auld: He was larger than life to many people Louis, thanks for the comment.
Very nice processing. Well done
Les Auld: Thanks Richard, it sort of just came together.
That is still my favourite Shankley quote. A couple of others

If you're not sure what to do with the ball, just pop it in the net and we'll discuss your options afterwards

When I've got nothing better to do, I look down the league table to see how Everton are getting along.

Nice tribute Les
Les Auld: And mine Bill, there are many about, a couple more:

The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.'

I told this player, 'Listen Son, you haven't broken your leg. It's all in the mind.''
