photoblog image Liverpool Skyline

Liverpool Skyline

Sunday was a fine day, blue skies, the sun low in the sky and some cloud so just the job, a trip into Liverpool camera in hand. Instead of traveling past the docks I went down Everton Brow for a change and saw the skyline from the hill. Under exposed to get the black of the buildings against the bright sun and then tickled in photoshop.

On the left is the Radio City Tower and Wellington on his column. The cranes are part of the renovation of the city with the Paradise Street and Liverpool One shopping developments amongst many other.

Cranes fill the sky, a hole in each street,
A time of transition where old and new meet;
A city transformed, but at what cost?
A new "
Paradise" – or a Paradise Lost?

The Liverpool Saga 800 lines for 800 years, written by the people of Liverpool.

Great shot and the topmost layer of the clouds grabs the attention.

I am thinking that an extract of the clouds alone and without the bird can be a background layer like those that you got from flickr.
Les Auld: You could be right Louis, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the comment.

Very interesting sky Les.
Les Auld: We do get them around here Ian, Thanks for the comment.
Great picture Les. For me it looks even better if the background is switched to white.
Les Auld: Nevr thought about white Bill, thanks for the comment.

Looks like a lot of building work going on here - Wellington seems to be a little overwhelmed! I love the silhouettes against the richly coloured sky. Very good aerial perspective too with the hazy hills in the background.

I've lived in and around Dublin for 14 years now and the cranes just seem to multiply overnight as the city is remodeled, especially around the docklands. I wonder if there'll ever be a vista when we don't see any?
Les Auld: Not in my lifetime David, thanks for the comment.
