photoblog image The River Alt at Sunset

The River Alt at Sunset

It looked like it might have been a reasonable sunset over the Irish Sea so I shot down to the River Alt at Hightown, just north of Liverpool, but the sunset was a bit of a dissapointment, but I took some pictures anyway.

The jetty belongs to the Blundellsands Sailing Club and leads down to the river. The river is there, it is te dark bit across the centre of the picture but as it runs through a deep channel in the mudflats it is difficult to see from this angle. The ship just leaving the picture is the Irish Boat, bound for the Twelve Quays ferry terminal in Birkenhead.

No so dissapointing a sunset in my view and I am used to excellent ones. Great picture and I like the reflective line of the sun. Nearly missed the ferry.

Great diagonals and triangles here.
Les Auld: A mere shadow of what you can see in your part of the world Louis, but thanks for the comment. I think I will ahve to wait a few more months to get the image I was after of the sun falling through the posts at the side of the jetty.

it works for me les great shot.
Les Auld: Thanks Mick, appreciate the comment.
Very nice shot Les. The bonus here for me is the boat silhouette between reflections and sunlight
Les Auld: Usually things going out of the picture don't work very well but as the sun is on the edge I thought it would be ok to include the boat as well. Thanks for the comment Richard.
I think it`s great, Les! Such a lot to look at and enjoy. (:o)
Les Auld: Thanks Rosalyn, not too bad a place ot photograph, better in the summer though when the boats are moored along the river.

I would be more than happy if it was mine. Lovely capture Les, the pier almost looks like a runway and I love the puddles of water reflecting the sun.
Les Auld: Thanks Aussie, I think it looked better in the picture than in real life.

Nice. It's a picture I could look at for ages and keep seeing things emerging from the distance.

Pity about those awful wind turbines though, but I suppose we've got to get used to them - like pylons!
Les Auld: Thanks Ellie, I couldn't agree more about those turbines, just about ruined the view.
oh wow Les that was worth making the effort to shoot down their, great shotsmile
Les Auld: It was a bit of a hike to get theer, thanks Tim.
