The Fruit Trader

You could see these fruit sellers on many of Bangkok's streets. selling fresh melon and other fruits, ice cold, in large bags for 10baht, about 15 pence in the UK.

Have you bought anything from them? One gets so many warnings not to buy from the street less you would upset a western stomach smile I did buy a bag and enjoyed it with no adverse effects. The other trader with the octopussies I gave a wide berth.

In a restaurant one evening I ordered a dish that was listed as mild to soft - I thought I would explode after eating it (involved a slow fuse I think) and needed 3 hours to recover. It was just way too spicy.

Great picture bringing back memories of Bangkok. Very warm and humid. A tailor can adjust the size of the jeans that you buy within 10 minutes. The jeans lasted 5 years and cost about 2 pounds sterling equivalent at the time. Arrange with reception and a tailor will visit you within half an hour, take measurements and have three suits ready the next afternoon along with some shirts. All for the price of one suit back home.
Les Auld: Only the melon Louis, definately not the fried insects. Had no real trouble eating over there though, food was just fine. Glad to bring back memories, just what pictures should do in my opinion, I had a good time out there and would like to go back for another visit, maybe one day.

I like the guy who is thinking 'Hmm, one of these would be good!'
Les Auld: And he would be right Martin, thanks for the comment.
Another great street shot Les. The guy on the left seems very interested by the fruits
Les Auld: Proably trying to decide just what to buy, thanks for the comment Richard.
Lovely street shot, Les. I expect the cold fruit would be very welcome and refreshing. (:o)
Les Auld: Resta ssured it was Rosalyn, very nice and fresh. Thanks for the comment.

I always bought on the street and never had a problem - I could just go some grilled pineapple ;o)
Les Auld: Neither did I, thanks for the comment.

Yumm, I think my expression would mirror the onlooker. It looks lovely, but we're increasingly conditioned to be careful about 'local' produce .. odd really, when most of our UK fruit and veg comes from exactly the same areas.

Love the picture, a super shot of daily life.
Les Auld: It was good food Ellie, although I agree with you about food in this country, too much time is spent trying to protect us, we survived ok without it many years ago.
