Central Pier

The view from Central Pier, Blackpool, as the sunsets over the Irish Sea and a mumuration of Starling gather, just had to use this word, thanks to Rosalyn finding it the other day.

Very cool - the angle, the colors, the clarity... it should be a postcard!
Les Auld: Thanks for stopping by Jewlya, appreciate the comment.

Very nice shot Les. Love the pier.
Mary from "just picture it" also used murmuration this week and I had never heard the word before.
Les Auld: Thanks Aussie, piers do make good photographic locations.

Wow...such rich colors and great composition. Luscious photograph...
Les Auld: Thanks Kathryn, appreciate the comment.
Like this Les, how does it look in B&W? Perhaps a tad too gloomy. The blue wall is probably key in giving a lift. Disappointed you haven't counted the number of starlings!
Les Auld: Thanks Mike, there is a monchrome version on Flick, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lsauld/2059381997/ but I am nt too happy with it, I could not get the effect I was after so in the end I gave up.

539 Starlings herded by the Lone Seagull.
Great shot Les - I love the perspective on the pier and the colours are wonderful. The starlings are the icing on the cake!
Ingrid
Les Auld: Thanks Ingrid, not sure if I fancy the idea of Starling Icing, but then who really knows.

very lovely shot Les. mal
Les Auld: Thanks Mal.
An another amazing one, I love the grain too ! Bravo Maestro !
Les Auld: Thabks Zeb.
The background murmuration of Starlings would be a distant susurration as the day ends peacefully. smile
Les Auld: Add to that the gentle sway of the surf at the tide line and the roar of the traffic behind me then you do get the general picture. Thanks Bill.
Can`t take credit for the word - it was Mary who introduced it to me the previous day! Credit where credit is due, and all that. Great shot! Fantastic angle on the pier, and nice continuity with the bird theme which seems to be going round on here. (:o)
Les Auld: Thanks Rosalyn, so it's all down to Mary then.

Gorgeous picture, love the feeling it gives, one of protection somehow.

Murmuration, it's a lovely word to use isn't it.
Les Auld: Thanks Ellie, murmuration is a great word, a little difficult to spell though.
Another great shot. I like. For my is a Likey!
Les Auld: Thanks Jose, glad you like it.
