photoblog image The Iconic Waterfront

The Iconic Waterfront

The centre of the Liverpool waterfront consists of the iconic buildings known as the Three Graces at the pier head. They are:

there is plenty of building work being carried out in this area well, with the extension of the Leeds Liverpool canal to the Albert Dock at the south end and  the building of the new Museum of Liverpool Life to name but two.

The blue wrapping around the PoL building is due to renovation work there, and the building of luxury flats at the top of it.

This waterfont was given World Heritage status some years ago and there has been concern that the new buildings would damage this status but UNESCO, the body that grants the accolade, has accepted the work.

Lots of cranes, Les, a clock tower, a cathedral (?), and a fabulous sky. You know I'm loving this! smile
Les Auld: Pleased that you like it, one of my favourite views, the Liverpool Waterfront.

The Cunard looks just like a ship to me tongue

Another great 'waterfront' picture with lovely detail
Les Auld: Well spotted Louis, the ship is the QEII when she was on her farewell tour of the UK a couple of months ago.
