The old and the new

There are many new high rise buildings going up in Liverpool, especially alongside the dock area.

These are just two of them, the Beetham Tower West and the Unity Tower. They overshadow the Thistle Atlantic Tower hotel, built in the 1970s I think, and the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, known locally as the Sailor's Church, parts of which date back to the fourteenth century.

The rain had just passed in the late afternoon and the sun was in the right place to provide a good light on the buildings.

Nice eclectic mix of architecture. Are you saying that the two taller ones are new? They sure don't look that way...
Les Auld: The two tall ones are still being built, but they are not a patch on the existing buildings around there. thanks Martin.
Nice sky line ..and treatment !!
Les Auld: It is improving with all the new build, appreciate the comment.
Great architectural shot! I find the building on the left really bizarre, with that box shaped bit on the top. What an odd idea. (:o)
Les Auld: No telling what todays architects will come up with, thanks for the comment Rosalyn.
Great mix of buildings, and as you say, the light is perfect. I suspect the architect of the building on the left had been playing with his son's Lego.
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, aptly described.
Terrific light capture Les, the sky sets them off a treat!
Les Auld: Blame it on the rain, thanks Max.
Independently of the pretty resistance between the old building and the new ones, to my me the good attention has called much the colorful one that it has this photo. It has remembered to me to photos done with film of color in years 70 and 80!
Les Auld: The light after the rain was pretty good, appreciate the comment Jose.
