Longton Brickcroft is a Wetlands Nature Reserve midway between Preston and Southport. The Nature Reserve lies on the site of the former Bentley Brickworks. Clay was excavated to make bricks but when good quality clay ran out in the early 1960's brick making ceased and the site was left derelict and nature took over. Rainwater filled the pits and the local council provided paths and benches around the lake that formed.
This was taken in the late afternoon with the trees being lit by the setting sun.
