This looks like a shot from the steam era. I am amazed that they keep these things running.

Elisabeth was not a beautiful princess smile

Les Auld: Elisabeth may not have been beautiful bt this engine has such grace. Thanks Louis.
This could have been taken in the days of steam. Great shot Les.
Les Auld: I wish I had a camera when Isaw these for real on the West Coast mainline back in the early sixties. Thanks Bill
Ah Les! How evocative, especially in B&W. And when these monsters go through cuttings and under bridges there is just so much smoke and steam.
Les Auld: All part of the atmosphere Ian, thanks for commenting.
An LMS Princess class 4-6-2: how wonderful that two of these can still be seen gracing the metals. Nice shot!
Les Auld: How true Christopher, I saw both Princess Elisabeth and Princess Margret Rose together at Crewe the year before last, a magificent sight. Thanks for commenting.

Wonderful nostalgic feel to this one Les. The treatment suits it perfectly. David.

Smashing shot Les, looks like it's from days of old.
Les Auld: T'were the intent, Thanks David.
Great shot - this really does look like a shot from the past. Love the cloud of steam - I can hear the piano from Brief Encounter as Trevor Howard runs up the platform!
Ingrid
Les Auld: Thanks Anniedog, and there is an idea for another image, I know where the Brief Encounter scenes were filmed, so one day....
