photoblog image Autumn in Cambridge

Autumn in Cambridge

The area behind the colleges in Cambridge that runs down to the River Cam is known as the backs, there are more college grounds on the other river bank as well. There are many fine trees in these grounds and the autumn colours are starting to show in the late afternoon sun.

How could anyone ever be bored with autumn!
Les Auld: Certainly not from a photographic point of view, thanks Ginnie.
Is this not just the BEST time of the year! Lovely shot, Les. (:o)
Les Auld: The colours just call out for a camera to be pointed at them. Thanks Rosalyn.

Its so sad they have to fall off tho' isn't it. (And a real pain for me as someone has to sweep them up) Magical ;o)
Les Auld: I suppose technology could come to the rescue with a giant vacuum and a long lead, Thabks David.

Something strange - the lane of trees on the right seems to be leaning to the left, then the green copse and the other tree at the back leans to the right. (I believe it is their growth and not anything with pic). Normally trees in the same area (especially if its windy) tend to lean in the same direction.

Great shot. Somehow reminds me of the jigsaw type of pictures - when people still did that.
Les Auld: I think I have a couple in the cupboard somewhere. I see what you mean about the leaning. I did use quite a wide angle, 16mm, and it could be a case of converging. Thanks Louis.verticals
Fall is the best time of year and the shortest. I love the colors captured here and the blanket of red on the ground. Nice capture.
Les Auld: Right place, right time for a change, thanks Gail.
Late afternoon sun in Autumn.... Liquid Gold Les.
Les Auld: and a touch of the Amber Nectar, thanks Bill.
