Racing

Two of the big 225HP boats race for the corner last Saturday during the Honda 4 Stroke Powerboat racing in Liverpool.

ITV4, one of the UK TV stations, were sponsoring the event and filming it for television as well as sponsoring a boat.

The yellow boat in the background, scream-it.com, was being driven by Richard George, who kindly left a comment on one of my pictures from last years race, here. The navigator on this boat donated serious money to charity to claim his first race ride.

My 7-year-old grandson just saw this with me and he said, "Wow! No wonder they have helmets on!" grin I love it.
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, I don't think they are strapped in either.
Good one. I like the matching orange helmets.
Les Auld: Thanks for the comment, appreciate it Ian.

Back in the groove I see after the brief sojourn in the crook o'lune! Those helmets are something else - I guess they make sure that any man overboard is quickly found.
Les Auld: Maybe back at the Crook later this week. I've seen a couple of crew fly into the water and the helmets do help to see them, especialy when the boats following are doing in excess of 60mph on a choppy sea.
Another nice shot Les. Orange helmets this time!!
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, appreciate the comment.
Now that's the kind of shots of love to see. Where were you for this one Les ?

Les Auld: Thanks J, standing on the riverside walk by the Albert Dock. One of the advantages of the Liverpool leg of the series is that you can get close to the action.
Wow! That good details are seen in this photo. The colors also are playing very well to create this composition of the action! smile
Les Auld: Thanks Jose, the boats are quite colourful.

Nice action shot Les. Love the wave to the right between the boats.
Les Auld: Thanks Aussie, that is the wake of a boat in front that I had cut in half.
Thanks Les. Great shot!! Liverpool was fantastic! We got the highest placing yet 8th on Saturday and were leading for the first time ever Sunday...until the engine died. The race is on ITV4 Tomorrow at 4.15. Chris the navigator here paid £4250 to DebRA charity for the ride! Thanks for your support and see you next August!
Les Auld: Glad you enjoyed your Liverpool trip, the racing was pretty good on the Saturday, well done on your place and commiserations for the Sunday. I managed a few photos and some more may be found on my Flickr site

I have a few more to add of the smaller boats and the activity in the Canning Dock as well, including some of your boat.

Look forward to next year

Regards Les
