Leading the parade

The Mercedes, a two masted square rigged sailing ship built in 2005 and registered in Amsterdam, waits in the River Mersey as the Clippers line up for a Parade of Sail past the many thousands of spectators lining the banks of the river.

Good one Les. Sparkling water, industrial horizon, lots of activity on the water.
Les Auld: Thanks Ian, muddy water with a sun shining on it, Runcorn Chemical factories in the distance, a few clippers all go to help the picture along.

lovely shot, Les
Les Auld: Thanks Aussie, I just love photographing the activities on the river.
Nice shot Les. That sea looks choppy.
Les Auld: Appreciate the comment Bernie, the tide was just on the turn and the wind was getting up, even the ferry was rolling a bit.

Excellent, beautiful how they are leaning into the wind.
Les Auld: Appreciate the comment Louis, it was getting a bit windy on the river then.

Wow. That is one busy, beautiful harbor, Les!
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, these events do bring out the boats on the river, there were many more than can be seen in this shot.
Love the choppy brown water which makes a great base for the deep blue of the sailing ship. I'd loce to see this cropped down to a vertical with just the Mercedes.
Les Auld: Thanks Bill. I don't think I have ever seen the Mersey any other colour but Brown, something to do with the mud and sand churned up by the tide I suppose. No nice blue seas for us here in Liverpool.
Wow A wonderful boat and a really nice picture : A likey !!
Les Auld: Thanks Zeb, glad you like. She did look splendid out on the river.
Another wonderful contrast of old and new. Lots to look at too. (:o)
Les Auld: Thanks Rosalyn, appreciate the comment.
