The Queen Now Moored

Friday 21st September 2007 was an auspicious day for Liverpool as the Queen Elisabeth II arrived in the River Mersey and moored at the new Cruise Liner Facility. The CLF was formally opened by the Duke of Kent on the Friday mornng and there was a fireworks display at 10.30pm (too late for me though) before the Queen sailed onto her next destination at 3.00am.

The QEII was sailing around the UK as part of her farewell cruise before she sails to Durbai to be turned into a floating hotel.

She did look magnificent in the afternoon sun with the old and the new of the Liverpool waterfront spread behind her.

Impressive - despite max black ruining the suspense! Perfect composition.
Les Auld: Thanks for the comment, it was there so I just had to take a photograph.
You should probably get several thousand of these printed and sell them as postcards. The QEII also came to the Tyne, but unfortunately the whole family had awful colds, so we couldn't get down to see her.
Les Auld: I did see some pictures of her leaving the Tyne, a great ship indeed. Thanks for the comment.

Awesome shot Les
Les Auld: Thanks Tracy, appreciate the comment.
I remember watching the QE2 on television when it was launched. I even took some photos of the TV, but I've never seen her in in the flesh. This picture is pretty damn well perfect!I'm putting it in my likeys.
Les Auld: Glad you like Bill, to my knowledge this is the third time she has been to Liverpool and each time there was a tumultuous welcome for her.

Impressive, Les. A great capture!
Les Auld: Thanks Jose, she is indeed a large ship.
