Ships in the dock

Tha Amistad arrives in Canning Half Tide Dock, Liverpool, alongside the replica of HMS Bounty.

The Bounty was constructed by a Hollywood studio for the Mel Gibson film, Bounty, and for some reason was made 20% larger than the original.

Who knows, with those movie maniacs! But what a difference between the two in size!

This is a fabulous shot, Les!
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, I think it has an almost timeless quality, could be a couple of hundred years ago.
Beautiful shot Les. They are so graceful and elegant.
The indonesian navy has just had a tall ship run aground on the sunshine coast, but they closed the beach so alas no photos. No they are not that far behind the times, it was going to Sydney for some celebration.
Les Auld: Thanks Aussie, you're right they are majestic.
I like the colors of the boats in front of all that murky weather.
Les Auld: Thanks Martin, it was worth the wait in the rain.
To think folk sailed around the world in these things, no GPS in sight. This could be Liverpool 200 plus years ago.
Les Auld: So right Alistair they knew how to navigate back then.
Hi Les - maybe it is because people are bigger now! I think old sailing ships are so majestic. Saw a tall ship going under London Bridge on The Queen's Birthday this year, and guess what - no camera.
Les Auld: Thanks Mike, should always carry a camera, although I can talk!
Great image of two beautiful ships. All the best, Dave.
Les Auld: An opportunity that does not come along all that often, thanks for the comment dave.
