The pier went long ago

The site of New Brighton Pier, it fell down in the 1980's after falling into ruin. All that is left is a concrete rump. The ferry from Liverpool used to call at the pier and thousands of visitors passed through the gates for a great day out. These days New Brighton still has lots of visitors but the attractions, the pier, the big funfair, the open air bathing pool, have all gone. You can still get donuts and candy floss though.

Too bad they won't build another pier, Les. This is a wonderful B&W shot of the area. A place I've been wanting to visit for a while now.
Les Auld: There have been some recent proposals but nothing has come to fruition. We would be glad to see you over here.

The rocks and cloudy skies alone would make another pier worth it for me, Les. I bet those that have all the fond memories of years gone by are saddened by the loss!
Les Auld: Thabnks Ginnie, It does bring back memories of childhood, a long time ago.
Good progression that leads the eye to the upper right with the weird round structure!
Les Auld: Thanks Martin, I have never been able to fathom the purpose oof the structure, there must be a reason for it though.
Lovely tones, Les.

Super composition Les. For myself, I would prefer a little less brightness in the foreground, but still very good. Many regards, Neil.
Les Auld: I think you are right about the foreground, apprciate the comment.
I'm with Neil about the composition here !
Les Auld: Appreciate the comment Zeb.

Les Auld: Appreciate the comment, I try to get things right, but not always suceed.
