Homage to a cyclist?

This sculpture is located at the shore end of Southport Pier. In the pre World War I years there was a stunt cyclist by the name of Professor Powsey who rode a bycyle of the end of piers around the country and I suspect this may be an homage to him but I have been unable to confirm it.

Wow. I don't think I could even attempt Professor Powsey's stunts. This is a great capture, Les smile
Les Auld: Thanks Kay, I would like to do it either, he must have been a bit mad, his wife was a diving acrobat as well.

Excellent composition, blue skies and detail. Didn't know you could become a Professor in bike riding smile
Les Auld: Thanks Louis, probaly from some little known two bit university in the sticks.
I love the sculptures along around Southport, I have yet to get a good shot of one.

This is a great composition and looks good against the blue background.
Les Auld: Thanks Alistair, there are some interesting ones around, the Southport Shrimp, a local seagull, a one legged diver to name but a few. You do need a good sky to get the best though.
Just as Alistair says, great composition and the bronze colour looks great against that fabulous blue sky.

It's a fantastic capture, Les. I can just stare at it forever! smile
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, not forever though there are plenty of other images about as good.
Great shot Les. Composition and balance (no pun intended) is spot on. Very nice!! David.
Les Auld: Thanks David, I was on the edge of a precipice about posting this.
Nice shot! The clear blue sky works well with the somewhat minimalist sculpture.
Les Auld: Appreciate the comment Martin, I think you are right about the sky, clouds would not have worked so well.
Excellent vibrant shot. All the best, Dave.
Les Auld: Same day as the previous post, Thanks Dave.
