photoblog image The bridge

The bridge

The Stanley Dock is on the wrong side of the dock road, so in order for shiping to move in and out a bridge was required. In the last quarter of the nineteenth century a Bascule Bridge was installed, now no longer used it is rusting away along with teh Stanley Dock warehouse and the tobacco warehouse.

Someone clearly didn't do their topographic study before building, Les. So sad. What a waste!
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, I suspect the road really came after the dock though.

I agree with Ginnie. I do love this picture of the bridge, tho. you caught all of the details so well.
Les Auld: Thanks Kay, I feel that this bridge is very difficult to get a good photograph of, the light is never quite right and the detail gets lost.

Since then they teach planning as part of townplanning - before that they were towning tongue

This picture reminds me of 'A bridge too far' or that other movie about the fouth son that had to be brought back to the US. Any moment now some brute of a panzer will come creaking accross the bridge.

Excellent shot and processing.
Les Auld: Thanks Louis, it does have an air of a bridge too far, agee with you about the panzer stopped in the middle perhaps.
This shot is magic. Has such a strong industrial feel to it. All the best, Dave.
Les Auld: Appreciate the comment Dave.
