A dreary day on the River Mersey as the grab dredger Mersey Mariner heads downriver towards Liverpool bay. This ship is a regular on the river, being ownered by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company. She, and her sister ship the Mersey Venture, work hard up and down the river keeping the shipping channels open.
The post in the foreground is one of the Dolphins that will be used to secure the new Cruise Liner Terminal. In the background can be seen Cammell Laird Shipr Repairers with a Royal Naval fleet Auxiliary ship in for refit.
